Mountain West Ballet is a community based non-profit organization that preserves advances and shares the beauty of ballet by providing opportunities for aspiring dancers in a professional, nurturing atmosphere, and by offering the community an affordable, quality production for entertainment and educational purposes.

Mountain West Ballet presents two productions annually, utilizing the Sandy Amphitheater and Mount Jordan Middle School as venues. Mountain West Ballet holds open auditions for all parts using a panel of judges who utilize a points-based scoring system. Auditions are widely publicized throughout Salt Lake valley through press releases, mailings, posters and flyers in public and private schools and universities. Our goal is to use every dancer who auditions, which often results in double or triple casting. Dancers from throughout Salt Lake valley representing approximately 26 dance schools, colleges and universities participate annually with Mountain West Ballet.

MOUNTAIN WEST BALLET WAS ELEVATED TO NEW HEIGHTS AS IT WAS HONORED WITH UTAH’S OWN BEST OF STATE AWARD 2010

Mountain West Ballet was recognized with the distinguished Best of State Award in the Arts and Entertainment category; Community Arts.  Awards were presented by Shauna Lake and Mark Koelbel of KUTV2 at a gala event May 29, 2010 at the Salt Palace Convention Center.  Mountain West Ballet is deeply honored with the Best of State Award recognition, as it feels this award is a reflection of its mission and commitment in providing our community with quality entertainment through the art and education of ballet.  The Best of State Awards were created in 2003 to recognize outstanding individuals, organizations and businesses in Utah. Best of State candidates are evaluated by a panel of 100 judges based on three criteria: achievement in the field of endeavor; innovation or creativity in approaches, techniques, methods or processes; and contribution to improving the quality of life in Utah. By recognizing excellence in our community and sharing examples of success and triumph in so many worthy endeavors, it is hoped that we will all be inspired to reach a little higher and strive to realize our goals and dreams.
